Crookhouse is a small traditional Northumbrian steading where two cottages are available to rent individually, or alternatively can easily be transformed into a single unit to accommodate up to twelve people. We aim to provide a high level of comfort with spacious accommodation in an extraordinary setting.The cottages have recently been refurbished. They have been adapted to take full advantage of the unique view into the College Valley. This is the place for those who seek tranquility, clear skies and big scenery.
Bowmont cottage has a large utility/drying room with belfast sink, freezer etc.The fully fitted open plan kitchen reaches into the sunroom/dining area with those magnificent views and door to outside paved area with table and chairs for al fresco dining. The extremely comfortable sitting room has a wood burner,TV,DVD etc. and a very good sofa bed for extra guests.The sitting room cupboards house plenty of books, games, videos,CDs, and DVDs. At the foot of the stairs there is a groundfloor bathroom with shower. Upstairs the master bedroom has a kingsized bed and a fully equipped en suite with a roll-top bath and a separate shower.The second bedroom has a 3/4 bed and a single bed and its own en suite with bath and shower over. The cottages have full central heating and logs for the wood burning stoves provided. All linen and towels are included
Crookhouse is managed by Lynney Holden who lives nearby and whose main objective is to ensure that your holiday is a success.Crookhouse forms part of the Lanton Estate which is privately owned. The family are passionate about the environment in which they live, and are pleased to welcome you to share with them the delights of North Northumberland. We are close to the Scottish border and our nearest town is Wooler which is a typical Border market town. Guests can explore many places of interest in an area steeped in history and of outstanding natural beauty. Northumberland offers a wealth of castles to visit...Bamburgh,Warkworth, Dunstanburgh,Lindisfarne etc. not fogetting the world renowned Alwick castle and Alnwick gardens. Lynney can help you find your way around and will assist with arrangements and bookings if required. You may wish to do nothing, just sit back, relax and enjoy the views.If however you want more action you could try one or all of these........... Walking(St Cuthberts Way, Pennine Way),Cycling(bikes can be hired locally),Horse riding(bring your own or hire locally), Trail hunting, Shooting, Fishing can be arranged. Golf- many courses nearby Horse Racing at Kelso Boat trips from Seahouses to Farne islands Bird watching...local land management encourages plenty of birdlife on the estate.
