Sunridge Lodge - South Hams, Yealmpton, Devon

WELCOME TO SUNRIDGE LODGE

LUXURY HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION IN THE SOUTH HAMS, DEVON

So you want to get away from it all? Welcome to Sunridge Lodge, private luxury holiday accommodation hidden away amongst the undulating hills and bubbling streams of the Yealm valley, South Hams, Devon. Here you can enjoy the sound of tranquilty, night and day, dawn to dusk. If you want privacy and peace, and be in an area of outstanding beauty, then you've found the right place. This secluded luxury self catering accommodation is surrounded by its own private woodland and just a short stroll away from its own private fishing lake stocked with an abundance of carp. This really is the secluded getaway you've been waiting for...

Inside Sunridge Lodge

This luxury holiday accommodation is located in South Hams in Devon, the Lodge is actually a converted barn, spacious, warm, practical and very comfortable. Originally built over 200 years ago, now renovated and modernised, it's still very much a traditional Devon dwelling, with stone walls, exposed beams and a solid oak and glass staircase leading to the bedrooms. The rustic charm of the barn combined with the modern interiors make for a smart combination of atmosphere and ambience - a place you will feel relaxed in, free from the worry and bother of neighbours and passers-by.

Outside Sunridge Lodge:

The lawns around the lodge are great for picnics and games and for the less active, in the spring and summer time, to sunbathe and relax in privacy. There is a generous split level deck emerging from the lodge that hovers above the garden space and is perfect for dining/entertaining. The deck also leads to the upstairs bedrooms. To say you won't have any neighbours is not strictly true because edging the lawns there is a shady wood teeming with wildlife, birds and badgers, foxes and squirrels - this is their home too remember!

PRIVATE FISHING LAKE

70 yards from the front door of your Lodge in South Hams, Devon, there's a fishing lake, over half an acre in size. The lake often looks magical in the mystical light that this part of Devon is renowned for. The water often looks golden in colour, due to the complex mineral profile of the surrounding terrain - the lake is fed by a fresh water stream which helps to support the very rich bio-diversity of this protected environment. Fishing in South Hams, Devon The Lake was originally stocked over 35 years ago, and has remained self sufficient ever since. An abundance of healthy Carp populate the lake (mainly Mirror and Common) and because of the isolation, peace, beauty and of course the magical light, this site makes for a brilliant course fishing location you will always want to come back to, again and again. The record size caught to date stands at 27Lb's! Whether you want to fish or just appreciate the beauty that is all around, this is an ideal spot for that restful break from the city.

Local attractions: The Surrounding Area The South Hams is England's most outstanding area of beauty and you could be in the heart of it! Minutes away from the Lodge, you will come across beaches to die for. In winter, spring or summer, many beaches remain deserted and unspoilt and are so beautiful, they are often used for film sets. Mothercombe Beach, just five minutes away from the Lodge, was used as a location for Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, as was nearby Saltram House, a huge Georgian period property, once the largest country seat in Devon. On your doorstep there are miles and miles of country trails along the River Erme and the dramatic south west coast path offers scenery that is literally breathtaking - this isn't a hard sell. The scenery really is breathtaking. Local villages are teeming with character, charm and delightful shops used by tourists and locals alike. For the gourmet, food could not be fresher or more diverse - locally grown chillies and spices are easily available. There's fresh fish caught daily and the dairy products are so fresh - eggs are still warm sometimes! Whether you want pheasant or quail, sea bass or John Dory, free range home cured bacon or Devon clotted cream, it's all here, and just minutes away from the Lodge. Locally there is a wealth of traditional rural life and plenty of leisure activities you can get involved in. The towns and villages boast authentic eighteenth and nineteenth century architecture, and there are hundreds of antique shops adding to the rural charm and the quintessentially English nature of our region. It's not hard to imagine you've been taken back in time, especially on a chilly winter's night, beside the roaring fire in the old village pub, many of which still serve traditional ales of the region. Down alleyways and through archways in some of the older villages like Dartmouth, you will find craft shops, pastry shops, local jewellers and organic-only cafe's where you can enjoy a splendid Devon cream tea with jam, made from strawberries grown locally. The Inns and restaurants in the region are as sophisticated and accomplished as any you'd find in London - Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Modbury, Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo, and of course, right on your doorstep, Yealmpton - in each place you will find award winning pubs and restaurants, with sea views and river views In the summer months you can dine outside and in, but all offer the very best of the local produce available, both as traditional Devon fare and of course, the more familiar Mediterranean, Eastern and African dishes we've come to know and love.
